10. Biennale der Ostseeländer, Norwegens und Islands
- 1983/07/02 — 1983/08/31
Kunst im Frieden für den Frieden should send the country commissions to the tenth Biennale in Rostock. The foreword of the catalogue also referred to the transnational peace movements and their importance.
The catalogue returned to the original format of a catalogue book.
From Denmark, the exhibition Arbejde - en menneskeret from the North Jutland Art Museum came to Rostock this year. Put together by young unemployed Danes, this initiative was on show in Aalborg from 01.05.-01.09.1982 and then travelled throughout Denmark. With the title Work a Human Right, it referred to the right of every human being to work as laid down in the UN Declaration of Human Rights of 10 December 1948.
The Swedish selection fell on the graduates of the Forum painting school in Malmö. This art school had been founded only a few years earlier by the Workers' Educational Association and was already very successful. The Kunsthalle's collection included three prints from the GDR, a watercolour series on a television play from the Federal Republic of Germany by Hans Platschek and a sculpture by the Polish sculptor Bronislaw Chromy.
