Interview with Chương-Đài VÕ in Dresden, 10 June 2022

Chương-Đài VÕ is an art historian, curator and researcher at Asia Art Archive. She is currently working on a book about art education in Vietnam between 1925-1975. In the interview she shares thoughts on how art in Vietnam might have been shaped by both aesthetic and political influences from Western Europe as well as the Soviet Union and other socialist states. In doing so, she examines socialist realism as a form of Western European modernism that had an influence on art in Vietnam. A selection of her work can be seen on her website: chuongdaivo.com.

The interview took place during the conference The Global GDR - A Transcultural History of Art (1949-1990) organized by the TU Dresden and the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden at the Albertinum.
