An exhibition about the cultural relations of the GDR with countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Curators: Kathleen Reinhardt and Mathias Wagner.

At the Albertinum museum in Dresden (part of Staatlichen Kunstsammlungen Dresden) the prologue exhibition Revolutionary Romances. Transkulturelle Kunstgeschichten in der DDR ("Revolutionary Romances. Transcultural Art Histories in the GDR") took place between 13 April - 4 September 2022. It was the starting point for a larger exhibition project in fall 2023 which focuses on the numerous forms of artistic relationships and exchange between the GDR and socialist-oriented countries of the Global South. The Albertinum's booklet introduces topics and artists of the exhibition.

The exhibition was accompanied by a public conference jointly organised by Technical University Dresden and the SKD. It was held between June 9 and 11, 2022, at the Albertinum under the title Die globale DDR – Eine transkulturelle Kunstgeschichte (1949–1990) ("The Global GDR - A Transcultural Art History (1949-1990)").
