Wolfgang Bruhm's travels through the Soviet Union
- 1972
- Wolfgang Bruhm
The artist and restorer Wolfgang Bruhm traveled to the Soviet Union twice before 1990 with the Verband Bildender Künstler der DDR (VBK). During his first stay in 1972, he visited Moscow, Kiev, Minsk and Leningrad, among other places, and met art students from Kiev; the second study trip took Bruhm to Leningrad again. He also established contact with students from the Soviet Union while studying panel painting at the Dresdner Hochschule für Bildende Künste between 1967 and 1972. In the video interview, Bruhm recalls his study trips and also relates that they did not affect his artistic work.
The video interview is part of a conversation conducted by the Zille family (Petra Zille, Ulrike Zille and Ray Zille-Bielß). They manage and preserve the estate of Rainer Zille and run the gallery Kunst vom Dachboden since 2020: https://www.kunst-vom-dachboden.de/. Art in Networks thanks them very much for providing the video material as well as the rights of use.
