- Sergio Zevallos
- Raúl Avellaneda
The "Grupo Chaclacayo" is named after the place of the very same name in Peru, where the Peruvian artists Sergio Zevallos and Raúl Avellaneda and the West German artist Helmut J. Psotta came together between 1982–1988. The touring exhibition presented an insight into the ongoing creative process of the artists group, which among its themes addresses the phenomena of violence and love in the context of Peru and its relationship with Europe. The multimedia exhibition at the Galerie am Weidendamm (East Berlin) was accompanied by performances of the artists in the Studio-Bühne of the Maxi Gorki Theater. Subsequently, the exhibition was held at the Prediger-Kloster in Erfurt (17 August – 30 October 1990).
Previously, the project toured in West Germany, at the Stuttgart Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen
(19 April – 18 June 1989); the Museum Bochum (15 July –27 August 1989);
the Badischer Kunstverein, Karlsruhe (21 September – 22 October 1989) and
the Berlin Künstlerhaus Bethanien (19 January– 18 February 1990).
