The artist Fritz Eisel travels to various Asian countries over several years and leaves his mark.

Between the years 1966 and 1980, the artist Fritz Eisel (1929-2010) traveled to countries in Asia for different reasons and on different occasions. After studying in Dresden, Weimar and Leningrad, the painter accompanied a geological expedition in Mongolia for several years - as a driver and interpreter. Numerous sketches and paintings were created in the course of the stay and were presented in 1969 in a solo exhibition in Ulan Bator.

A number of paintings that are now part of the holdings of the Dresden State Art Collections and the Art Collection of Wismut GmbH, for example, bear witness to a trip to Vietnam. In the course of his travels, however, some of his paintings have also ended up in collections around the world. For example, Roter Felsen auf Ceylon (1979) was created during a stay in Sri Lanka and is now in the ArtCeylon collection.

The occasion for another trip in 1977 was a solo exhibition of Eisel's work in Colombo, Sri Lanka. There he made the acquaintance of Dr. Sihare, then director of the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi. During a later trip to India in 1979/1980, three of the works created in Sri Lanka were given to Dr. Sihare. Since then, they have been in the collection of the National Gallery and therefore represent an example of art transfer within the framework of cultural-diplomatic relations of the GDR.
