Video interview with Karla Sachse in Berlin, 08.11.2022

Karla Sachse and Guillermo Deisler (1940 -1995) met through mail art networks between Chile and the GDR. Deisler had to flee into exile after the Chilean military coup in 1973 and stayed temporarily in France, the GDR and Bulgaria. In the mid-1980s, he settled permanently in the GDR with his family, and in 1988 he organized the exhibition Visuelle Poesie ("Visual Poetry") with Karla Sachse at the Club der Kulturschaffenden in Berlin. In this interview, Karla Sachse talks about Guillermo Deisler's mail art projects and his further artistic work, and recalls their first personal encounter in Berlin. Further biographical information on Guillermo Deisler can be found in the Mail Art index: https://mailartists.wordpress.com/2007/05/01/guillermo-deisler/. His extensive Mail Art collection is now housed in the archive of the Akademie der Künste in Berlin
