Artist Erich Enge (b. 1932) made several study trips abroad, including to Vietnam in 1967. In a videointerview, he uses specific works to talk about how his trip to Vietnam in 1967 continues to influence his work to the present day.
Erich Enge (born 1932) studied from 1955 to 1959 at Burg Giebichenstein in Halle under Kurt Bunge and Willi Sitte. The artist traveled abroad on several study trips, including to Vietnam in 1967. Even before the trip, Erich Enge was artistically engaged with Vietnam, especially in his graphic work.
The impressions he gained during his trip to Vietnam continue to shape his artistic work to this day. Thus he takes up important current issues and humanitarian topics in his works. In addition to paintings and graphics, Enge also created construction-related works in public spaces, such as the mural Die Idee wird zur materiellen Gewalt, wenn sie die Massen ergreift in Erfurt-Rieth, which was completed in 1976.
